Where the Prairies Meet the Boreal Forest and Migration Fills the Sky

As autumn sweeps across the Canadian Prairies, cranes spiral against golden skies, snow geese rise in spectacular waves from prairie wetlands, and the boreal forest ignites with fall colour. This seven-day small-group journey runs from Calgary to Saskatoon, then to Prince Albert National Park, and back, tracking the pulse of migration through some of the most rewarding and overlooked wildlife corridors in Canada. With a maximum of five guests, there is no rushing, no convoys, and no pressure. Just open roads, enormous skies, and the kind of photography that happens when you slow down and follow the light. Photographer guide Neil Zeller and naturalist Chris Fisher lead every mile, bringing years of guiding, teaching, and storytelling to each stop along the route. Highlights include prime Whooping Crane habitat, a private owl banding evening at Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve, misty mornings along boreal lakeshores, and a real chance at the Waskesiu night sky. Private accommodations throughout, à la carte breakfasts in Saskatoon, and all the comforts of the custom tour van round out a week that is as comfortable as it is unforgettable. $4,149 CAD per person plus GST.

Guided Adventures That Go Beyond the Usual

Q1: What makes your tours different from other guided experiences? Our tours are intentionally small, allowing for more personal connections, flexible itineraries, and space to truly see each place we visit. With a custom tour van, front-of-the-line access, and a deep focus on comfort and safety, guests enjoy a seamless and rich experience—with no stress about logistics or crowds. Q2: Can you help create a custom itinerary if I don’t know exactly where I want to go? Absolutely. Many guests just come with a theme; mountains, wildlife, quiet roads, or photography, and I build a meaningful route from there. We’ll chat about your goals and interests, and I’ll take care of shaping a tour that delivers a special day out. Q3: Are all tours photography-focused, or can they be more casual sightseeing trips? While many tours attract photography lovers, they’re designed for anyone who wants to explore beautiful places with ease. Families, friend groups, and businesses often join simply for the relaxed pace, stunning scenery, and curated experience—camera optional!
